On Love’s Tender Wings
On Love’s Tender Wings is a story of love and how it transforms the atmosphere of our emotions, represented through shifts in fashion and makeup.
Model Carmen Awano embodies an inner transformation, beginning with the feeling of a broken heart, a hopeless darkness and severity that gradually softens into a sense of hope, like small doves in a fairy tale. The final stage expresses relaxation and surrender to love, with playful styling reminiscent of vintage circuses and soft purple eyeshadow.
This concept was originally developed by Carmen, who drew inspiration from music such as ‘Wicked Game’, which captures the agonising pain of a broken heart. Balancing hopelessness and hope, the series expresses vulnerable and poetic emotions, like pages from the diary of someone heartsick. Madeleine’s illustrations overlay the looks, adding intimacy and a personal connection to the series.
